Row NS is hosting an Adaptive Learn To Row Workshop on Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1, 2013 at Oakwood House (North Star Rowing Club). Katherine Harman (Halifax Rowing Club) will be facilitating the workshop with assistance from Rebecca Orr (Rowing Canada – Master Learning Facilitator). Price for the workshop is $50 per person or FREE if you commit to 10 coaching sessions for Para-Rowing programs in Nova Scotia.

Please note some of the changes:
- Open / Canada Games events.
- Winter weight for light weights.
- Light weight weigh in earlier in the morning then RofR prescribes.
- No BBQ- One master winner per master event. Using the new handicap chart.
- Modified Jr / Secondary School category. They must be either a RCA junior or still in secondary school to row in these races. Only one winner/medal for these races.

Row NS is pleased to announce the hosting of the Learn To Row (LTR) Workshop. This workshop is geared toward people interested in coaching LTR lessons at clubs.

The workshop content is intended to provide the instructor with knowledge, skills and abilities to instruct learn to row sessions with beginners. It is not intended to prepare the instructor to work with rowers going to competition. Upon completion of the workshop, the instructor candidate will get a “trained” designation in the NCCP database.

Anyone who took the Adaptive LTR Workshop last June is required to take the LTR Workshop to achieve “Trained” status.

The LTR Workshop will take place on Saturday June 8nd and Sunday June 9 2013 in the Patterson Room at the Mic Mac Aquatic Center. Cost for the workshop is $90 per person. Anthony Landry will be facilitating.

The Row NS School Spring Challenge is a Learn to Row course designed to bring junior and senior high school students from across HRM together to try the sport of Rowing. Participants will learn the fundamentals of rowing, which include safe boat handling, water safety, boat terminology (port, bow, coxswain, etc.), developing good rowing technique (balance, proper grip, oar positioning, etc.) and teamwork.

At the end of the challenge participants will come together for a fun event where they can meet participants from the other clubs and show off their newly acquired speed and skills!

Tuesday & Thursday’s 4pm-6pm
Fee $50
Age: 13 yrs Minimum
